Alumni Highlights Fall 2024

Jeniece Jones (MPA 1996, JD 2002)

Jeniece Jones

Jeniece Jones (MPA 1996, JD 2002) has been named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Caracole, which is "Greater Cincinnati鈥檚 nonprofit devoted to positively changing lives in the fight against HIV/AIDS." She will be joining another NKU MPA alumna at Caracole -- Rina Saperstein, who is the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). 听

Jeniece is coming back to Greater Cincinnati after serving as Executive Director of the Public Justice Center (PJC), which is based in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to PJC, she had served as Executive Director of two nonprofit organizations in our region dedicated to equity and justice: Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) and Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati. In addition, she served as an adjunct/part-time instructor in our MPA program, teaching a few of our nonprofit management classes over the years. And she was selected for our Outstanding MPA Alumna Award in 2016. Congrats, Jeniece, and welcome home!

Very exciting news! The nonprofit organization formerly known as "Covington Partners" has the new name of "Partners for Change," and its scope of work is expanding beyond Covington Independent Public Schools. Partners for Change plans to offer its programs and services -- which include mentoring, out-of-school time, and family engagement activities -- to other school districts in 新加坡toto开奖结果. In fact, the organization already expanded its programming during the past school year to students in Newport Independent School District, Ludlow Independent Schools, and Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District.听 听

Congratulations and kudos for these big and meaningful changes to Stacie Strotman (MPA 2015), Executive Director of Partners for Change, as well as the organization's board of directors! Congrats to them!)


Holly Isaacs (2023)

Holly Isaacs (MPA 2023) was recently hired as the Village Administrator for the Village of Bethel, Ohio. Anyone who has worked with Holly in the MPA program -- classmates, professors, community partners, etc. -- know that she is more than ready for this exciting opportunity.

For more than 20 years, Holly has worked for Clermont County, Ohio. Most recently, she served as a Budget Analyst in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and previously as Clerk of the Board of Clermont County Commissioners. Prior to that, Holly worked in the Clermont County Prosecutor's Office in various roles, including Administrator and Victim Advocate.

James Mills (2023)

Congrats and kudos to James Mills (MPA 2023) for completing the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy! He has worked in the City of Taylor Mill Police Department for 15 years, including serving as Chief of Police for the past two years. Prior to Taylor Mill, he served as a police officer on 新加坡toto开奖结果 University's campus.

Chief Mills finished his MPA degree in December 2023, so it's impressive that he turned around and jumped into the FBI academy, which is known as one of the best law enforcement training programs in the world. The 10-week program takes place in Quantico, VA, and it involves "advanced investigative, management, and fitness training to senior officers who are proven leaders within their organizations."

Michelle Henderson (2021)

We are so proud of our MPA alums and students who are making positive impacts on people and communities in our region! Michelle Henderson (MPA 2021) is an Assessment Case Worker with Hamilton County (Ohio) Department of Job and Family Services. JFS administers federal, state, and local programs designed to support families and individuals in need and to help them work toward self-sufficiency.

JFS shared a brief video in which Michelle is asked to describe her job in 30 seconds. "The reason I do what I do is to help others and give other people a voice that may not have one," she said. "What I love most about my job is what I can learn from families. As much as they're learning from me, I'm learning from them as well ... and then helping them." 听

The video features Deanna Hillard (MPA 2019), Program Manager at Interact for Health, and Shawn Jeffers, Co-founder of YATC. The other Co-founder of YATC is Dr. Tynisha Worthy (MPA 2008). Another connection between YATC and NKU MPA was a collaborative effort on service-learning projects in our Volunteer Management class (PAD 622) a few years ago.
