мÓÆÂtoto¿ª½±½á¹û University's Art Galleries are proud to present two thought-provoking art exhibitions, "Cadence" by Alice Pixley Young & Adrienne Dixon, and "Portal Again" by M’Shinda Imani Abdullah Broaddus. These exhibitions will be on display from August 24 through October 20, with an opening reception scheduled for August 24 from 5-7 p.m.
In the Main Gallery, artists Alice Pixley Young and Adrienne Dixon come together to create a mesmerizing multimedia exhibition titled "Cadence." Through captivating site-specific installations, Young and Dixon delve into the interplay between light and space, inviting visitors to experience an immersive sensory journey. Themes of sustainability, color, architecture, and the environment are skillfully woven together to activate viewers' perceptual and spatial awareness. The exhibition encourages contemplation of our surroundings and challenges visitors to engage with their environment on a deeper level.
In the Third Floor Gallery, artist M’Shinda Imani Abdullah Broaddus presents "Portal Again," a series of captivating photographic collages that delve into the artist's journey of self-discovery as a gay black male. These intricate portals challenge the visual media's history of dehumanizing black men, particularly within the realm of gay pornography. Broaddus' work provides a window into the complexities of identity and how historical perceptions have shaped the way gay black men envision their place in the world.
