Honors College Advising

The Honors College has partnered with the NKU First Year Student Success Hub to help aid in your transition from high school to college, as well as support you during your first year in the Honors College.

Students who have entered as transfer students or continuing NKU students should contact David Kime to discuss advising requirements.

All Honors students are encouraged to meet with an Honors advisor each semester during their academic journey to discuss program requirements, course scheduling, capstone ideas, scholarships, and more.

Option 1: University Honors Scholar

Many students in the Honors College choose this pathway. Students begin their first year in the Honors College, usually enrolled in HNR 101 and HNR 102. Students continue with the Honors College throughout their college career following a very flexible curriculum. During their last semesters, students complete a two-semester Capstone Project.

Option 2: Focus

The Focus is a less traditional Honors college approach. Transfer students, students who are unable to complete their capstone, or students beginning at NKU having already completed Associate Degrees often complete the Honors Focus.

Both options complete the 鈥淪econdary Area鈥 graduation requirement and options within both may be used to help complete general education requirements should this advantage apply to your situation. Be sure to discuss all of these options with your Honors Academic Advisor.
